Tea is a beverage made by steeping the dried leaves or buds of the Camellia sinensis plant in hot water. Depending on how the leaves are processed, tea can come in several varieties, including green, black, white, oolong, and pu-erh. It’s enjoyed worldwide for its flavor, cultural significance, and health benefits, and it can be served hot or cold, plain or with milk, sugar, or lemon. Herbal “teas,” made from other plants, are technically tisanes but are commonly referred to as tea.
